Statement from Treasurer Peter Wardle on the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia

As Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario, I am joining with Canadians and members of the legal community to honour the memory of the victims of the Quebec City Mosque terrorist attack.

The act of violence and hatred that occurred on January 29, 2017, will forever be etched in our minds. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this devasting tragedy including Muslim communities in Ontario and across Canada.

This January 29th, let us reflect on the damaging effects Islamophobia and racism have in our society and reconfirm our commitment to work together to address all forms of hatred and intolerance.

The Law Society of Ontario is committed to combatting racism and discrimination in the legal professions and creating an environment that is welcoming and inclusive for all.

Peter Wardle
